NICS and Documentation
The FBI NICS background check is initiated and Form 4473 is completed. ATF documentation and the audit trail are built as part of the transfer, not added after the fact.

Secure Holding
Where a waiting period or shipping window applies, the firearm is held in secure storage during the transfer process. It does not sit unaccounted for between steps.

Licensed Delivery
The firearm is delivered through a licensed, documented path: direct to the recipient where state law permits, or coordinated through a local FFL where a transfer is required.
